# Subject Areas

In math subject, areas are the region that are bounded by a closed curve. Areas are considered to be an important invariant in the differential geometry of surfaces. In math subject, learning area of different shapes is an essential and an interesting one. In this article subject areas, the areas of different shapes in math subject are calculated using the math formulas.

## Formulas for Areas of Different Figures:

Triangle:            Area of Triangle    =    ½ b h

b ---> base

h ---> vertical height

Rectangle:       Area of  Rectangle  =  l w

l ----> length

w ----> width

Square:              Area of a square  =  a2

a ----> side length

Parallelogram: Area of Parallelogram = b × h

h ----> height

Circle:                       Area of a Circle = `pi` r2

## Example Area Problems on Math Subject:

Example 1:

Find the area of a triangle, if the base is 70 mm and the height is 16 mm.

Solution:

Area of a triangle =  ½  `xx` b `xx` h

=  0.5 `xx` 70 `xx` 16

=  560 mm2

Example 2:

Find the area of rectangle, if the length is 30 cm and width is 13 cm.

Solution:

Area of a Rectangle  =  l `xx` w

= 30 ` xx` 13

= 390 cm2

Example 3:

Find the area of a square with the side length  of 33 cm

Solution:

Area of a square  = a2

= 332

= 1089 cm2

Example 4:

Find the area of a parallelogram having the base of 44 cm and a height of 15 cm.

Solution:

Area of a Parallelogram = b `xx` h

= 44 `xx` 15

= 660 cm2

Find the area of the circle with the radius of 45 inches.

Solution:

Area of  Circle = `pi``xx` r2

= 3.14 `xx`  452

= 3.14 `xx` 2025

=  6358.5 in2

## Practice Area Problems on Math Subject:

1) Find the area of a triangle, if the base is 42 mm and the height is 6 mm.

2) Find the area of a square with the side length of 55 cm
