**Introduction to prepare for prisms exam:**

In prisms the shape of its cross section is same through out its length. The face, corners and edges depends on the type of prism. Example of prism includes triangular prism, hexagonal prism, cuboid, cube and cylinder. The prism with triangular cross section is called triangular prism. It has 5 faces, 9 edges and 6 corners. The prism with a hexagonal cross section is called hexagonal prism. The prism with circular cross section is called circular prism. Let us prepare for prisms exam.

**Example 1:**

Find the volume of a rectangular prism with base 6 inches by 4 inches and height 7 inches?

**Solution:**

Given length = 6 cm, breadth = 4 cm, heigtht = 7 cm

We need to find the volume of ractangular prism

Volume of rectangular prism = l*b*h

V = `(6 * 4 * 7)`

or, V =` (24) * 7`

Volume of rectangular prism = 168 inch^{3}

**Example 2:**

Find the volume of a triangular prism with sides 8 inches, 4 inches and height 6 inches?

**Solution:**

Given triangular prism of length = 8 , breabth = 4 cm. height= 6cm.

We needm to find the volume of the prism

Volume of the prism = Area of triangular base x height

Let us find the area of triangular base = `(1/2) * b * h`

= ` (1/2) * 4 * 6`

Area of triangle base = 12

Volume of the prism = Area of triangular base x length

= 12 inch^{2} x 8

Volume of prism = 96 inch^{3}

Example 3:

Find the area of a rectangular prism with base 6 inches by 4 inches and height 7 inches?

**188 inch ^{2}**

Solution:

Given base of 6 cm and 4 cm, height = 7 cm

We need to find the area of rectangular prism.

Area = 2(wh + lw + lh), where l = length, w = width, h = height.

Area = 2 `(4*7 + 6*4 + 6*7)`

Area = 2 (28 + 24 + 42)

Area = 2 (94)

Area of rectangular prism = 188 in^{2}

Example 4:

Find the volume of a triangular prism with sides 10 inches, 5 inches and height 7 inches?

**Solution:**

Given triangular prism of length = 10 , breabth = 5 cm. height= 7cm.

We needm to find the volume of triangular prism

Volume of the triangular prism = Area of triangular base x height

Let us find the area of triangular base = `(1/2) * 10 * 5`

= `(1/2)* 10 * 5`

Area of triangle base = 25

Volume of the prism = Area of triangular base x length

= 25 inch^{2} *
10

Volume of triangular prism = 250 inch^{3}
